How It All Started

The birth of Manchester Peace Coalition began with the visit of Dr. Louis D’Amore, Founder/President of the International Institute for Peace through Tourism (IIPT), to Mandeville in 2013, to attend the IIPT Caribbean Communities Tourism Conference and Study Tour. Dr. D’Amore, supported by the, then, Manchester Parish Council, declared the town of Mandeville and Brooks Park, the first IIPT Peace Town and Peace Park in the English-speaking Caribbean, respectively. The desire to start a Peace Epidemic, with Manchester as the epicenter, lead to a working committee which later morphed into an expanding band of Peace enthusiasts: the Manchester Peace Coalition, the building of a Peace Monument at Brooks Park and the engagement (in 2015), of Dr. Herbert Gayle, noted Social Anthropologist, to do a behavioral Research on fifteen at-risk communities, as identified by the local Police. At the end of his research, the number of communities was increased to eighteen.
This research revealed the need for development through, Education and Training, Sports and Recreation, Parenting and Family Life, Economic Planning, and Environmental Awareness.
Enroute to addressing these imperatives, the Manchester Peace Coalition has welcomed anyone willing to invest the time and effort to work with these communities and their leaders.

Presently

The Manchester Peace Coalition is currently fielding several projects and initiatives, all geared toward bettering the parish and it’s populace.

We are helping students at every level of education with their studies, assistance varies on a case by case basis. Our help is varied; tuition, texts, uniforms, etc.

We also provide assistance to families in need. Help was given to several families throughout the pandemic, and we stepped in after devastation of hurricane Beryl with food, clothing, household items, and even materials to aid in the repair of some abodes.

Mission

To reduce domestic violence, promote better parenting, reduce school dropout rates, support uniformed youth groups, reduce levels of child abuse in Manchester and promote income-generating projects in the targeted communities.

Vision

Manchester a place of peaceful and holistic living.

Our Plan

To stabilize the more volatile communities in Manchester by focusing, firstly, on one of the most critical elements that tends to cause destabilization in the society; the family.

Donations

Spread the word about our projects. Even a small donation will make a huge difference.
